The Mayor started 2007 with an ambitious task- to walk the boundaries of the borough of Hillingdon in five days. This is an admirable personal goal as well as raising sponsorship for his charities of the year, including the hospice. On Thursday 4th January the walk began at the hospice and several intrepid hospice staff members did the walk with him! Put your best foot forward as they say and there were NO reports of aching legs!
For the first three weekends of December Santa made a special visit to Ansells Garden Centre in aid of the hospice. He also bought his reindeer and various gifts for children. His kindness and the generosity of parents around the borough meant that nearly £1000 was raised for the hospice.
A very merry Christmas indeed!
On the 15th December Rita Hinton organised a brass band from West Drayton to come and sing and play carols for the hospice at the Baptist church in Harlington. The singing was beautiful and everyone enjoyed the mince pies and hot drinks afterwards. We raised a welcome £25.00.
An intrepid team of 27 staff and volunteers took to Trafalgar Square on the 13th December to sing for the hospice. Old favourites such as Silent Night ran alongside Slade and Elton John. We raised £101.18 for the hospice, although there were some claims that this was to get us to be quiet! Next year we will be taking to the stage with percussion and guitars, sign up now!
'Light Up A Life' took place on Thursday 7th December at the hospice. It was a multi-faith event with speakers from the Christian, Humanist, Sikh and Jewish communities. We also had a visit from the Deputy Mayor. This special annual event allowed us to remember our lost loved ones and light candles in their memory. Our tree was kindly sponsored by A. Cain Funeral Services.
