Thursday 8th November saw Harlington Hospice get into the spirit of Christmas with our annual Christmas Bazaar. It was a lovely day with lots of supporters from the hsopcie helping to sell things to raise much needed money! The Christmas cheer brought with it a well needed £1335.70 for the hospice. Merry Christmas!
October 6th wass World Palliative Care Day and this year was Voices for Hospices. For this event, we examined the 'voice' of the patients by exhibiting their artwork at Southlands Art Centre. 'One Voice' was a great success with many people coming to view the work at buy it for their homes and offices. There was also some poetry and an exhibition of films. This event raised nealry £700 for the hospice.
Our annual Barclays quiz was a great event. On September 27th, 8 teams pitted their wits against each other in an attempt to show who had the best general knowledge. Questions ranged from police dramas, to questions about bells and everything inbetween! A fun time was had by all (if our brains were a little sore afterwards) and we raised £700 for the Hospice. Huge ticks all round!
Sunday 2nd September saw our second charity 5 mile race, kindly organised by the Hayes and Harlington Road Runners, take place at Stockley Park. The weather was beautiful and we had over 100 competitors! It was a great race and a fun time was had by all. Thank you to Paul and Tony for all their hard work, all the marshals and Holiday Inn and Barclays for their sponsorship.
After all the hard work and effort that went into the London to Paris bike ride 2007 we decided it was time to have a party! Many thanks to Holiday inn, Sipson Lane, who supplied the venue. We all had a great night. There was a presenattion about the ride and lots of photos on the walls to celebrate the effort of the cyclists, support staff and people who made sponsorship donations. It was also announced that the ride has raised £11000 so far! A great acheivement! Anyone up for next year?.............
If big engines, fast cars and huge trucks are your kind of thing it's more than likely that you saw Harlington Hospice at the Auto Show. Situated in the 'Barclay's Charity Tent' we gave out leaflets and played a card game that had a prize everytime! All funds raised will be matched by Barclay's bank!
Harlington hospice had its West End debut on Friday 13th July. 'Electic' was a showcase of talent from all over the world and highlights included several dance groups, a classical pianist and a comedian M.C.
Our annual 'Fair on the Green' took place on the 22nd June 2007. Despite questionable weather (the sun most definitely did not have his hat on!) lots of fun was had by volunteers, supporters and staff alike. We had some new additions like candy floss, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and swing boats, alongside old favourites such as antiques, Irish coffee and a tombola. A special thanks to Holiday Inn who provided the BBQ and lots of fun with their rendition of the Macarena! Despite the rain we raised approximately £3000. Happy summer indeed!
On 27th May 2007, seven intrepid riders and four support staff started an epic journey to Paris... on bikes! After 6 days, 300 miles, wind, rain and several hills (!) the magnificant seven reached their destination. Click here to see their incredible journey and call us at the hospice if you wish to sponsor the ride.
An egg-sellent time was had by all at this year's annual Easter Egg hunt. Children hunted for eggs and coloured bunnies and everyone walked away with at least one prize (most won lots more than this!). The bouncy castle went down a storm and there was a wonderful collection of bonnets in the bonnet parade! What an egg-stravaganza!
On Saturday 31st March we spiced up the night with an Indian adventure!
This Indian Dinner and Dance was an extravaganza of music, food and dancing. The food was 2 meat options, 2 vegetarian options, rice, naan bread, a sweet course and soft drinks and was delicious. There were Indian dancers to entertain you while you ate and then we danced the night away! There was so much money raised it's still being counted- watch this space!
